What makes it Fabulous?

  • Total peace and quiet in the sunny south facing walled garden.
  • Cosy evenings in front of the roaring log burner.
  • Venturing cross country to Coverack for one of Elizabeth’s amazing homemade pasties on the beach.
  • A barbecue under the stars listening to the resident owl.
Escape off the beaten track and hideout at Thatch Cottage. In a tiny hamlet just outside the fishing cove at Coverack, this is rural perfection. A great base for walkers, cyclists, swimmers and ice cream eaters, this is a taste of real Cornish life.

Inside Story

Effortless style flows throughout the cottage. On the ground floor the serene open plan living room has a country cottage kitchen, chunky dining table and squashy sofas. The funky modern wood burner contrasts with the exposed stone walls, beams and latch doors. Homely comforts of books, games and a very well equipped kitchen create a warm welcome.

Upstairs the two simple yet chic bedrooms look out from under the heavy thatch to the pretty garden below, with sea glimpses beyond. One has a neat en-suite shower room and the modern bathroom is panelled perfection. A further single room will suit adults or children as desired.

Outdoor Living

South facing, the walled garden at the front of the cottage is private and peaceful. Lounge about in summer sunshine or fire up the barbecue and listen out for the resident owl who likes to make his presence known once dusk falls.

Out and About

Rural this may be but the vibrant villages of Coverack and St Keverne are not far away. It’s a 30 minute stomp across the fields to Coverack in the his and hers wellies provided or five minutes in the car if you prefer. Here you can skim pebbles on the beach, learn to windsurf or kayak, go diving or simply relax and watch the fishing boats come and go. There are a few cafés and a pub but we really recommend ordering a home-made pasty from Elizabeth’s thatched cottage above the beach.

A couple of miles north, St Keverne is a traditional little village with a pretty square, local shop, two pubs and arather good restaurant; The Greenhouse. Be sure to stop at Roskilly’s Farm for wonderful ice cream on the way past.
It really is worth exploring more of the Lizard Peninsula for incredible sandy beaches, quintessential Cornish fishing villages and simply stunning scenery.
