The beautiful lily pond beside the house provides the perfect backdrop for sunny breakfasts or leisurely lunches but please beware with little ones as the water is deep. The grounds are rambling and rural with a delightful orchard and a little paddock which are shared with the owners who live in the adjacent barn.
This is a great base for walkers and exploring the nearby woodland will reveal the ruins of the manor house, left to rack and ruin after a family dispute; in fact the heir to the estate has never been found after disappearing to America during the Second World War! With this in mind it is hard to believe that the beach buzz of Watergate Bay, home of the extreme water sports academy is only a few miles away.Other local beaches include Fistral, Porth, Holywell Bay and Mawgan Porth. Children are well catered for in Newquay with an aquarium and zoo whilst adults can enjoy spa days at The Watergate Bay, Bedruthan Steps or Scarlet Hotels, all within a few miles. Foodies are well catered for with Jamie Oliver's Fifteen nearby, Rick Stein at Padstow plus a good foodie pub about a mile away.
